FAMU Holds 10th Annual “Be Out Day” Event in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA – August 9, 2025 – Florida A&M University (FAMU) brought together alumni, students, and the wider community for the 10th Annual Be Out Day at Central Park in downtown Atlanta. The milestone event blended school pride, community recognition, and life-changing scholarship awards, creating an unforgettable day for attendees.

Record-Breaking Scholarships

A highlight of the day was the presentation of 22 scholarships—the largest scholar class in Be Out Day history. Organizers reflected: “We started out with seven scholars. This year, we’re giving away 22 scholarships.” The awards, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000, went to:

Top Scholars of 2025

  • Christiana Sasha Ray – $4,000 (Freshman Top Scholar)
  • Tyson Gilmore – $4,000 (Two-Time Scholar)

The Marching 100, sponsored this year by Labor of Love Doulas and Childbirth Center—a Black-owned Atlanta-based doula company—kept the atmosphere electric throughout the ceremony.

A Decade of Impact

Closing out the event, organizers thanked the community: “This could not be possible without you. For 10 years you’ve poured into Friends of FAMU, believed in our mission, and helped us inspire the next generation. We’re looking forward to 10 more years.”
