We’ve seen our fair share of casting calls. However, Alexis Skyy’s event was a different beast altogether. While the glamor and glitz on the surface were undeniable, there was a lot more going on beneath the veneer.
First and foremost, the sheer number of applicants was staggering. Think ’20 v 1′ but with 75 contestants instead. It’s a testament to Skyy’s star power and the allure of the influencer lifestyle. But it also highlights the fierce competition that aspiring models and influencers face.
Beyond the physical attributes, the casting team was laser-focused on personal branding. They weren’t just looking for pretty faces or banging bodies; they seemed to be more interested in individuals who could create engaging content on the set, connect with their audience, and represent the brand’s values. This is a clear indication of how the industry is evolving, with influencers becoming increasingly important marketing partners.
Surprisingly, social media did NOT play a pivotal role in the selection process. Based on our research of the applicants, not all had built substantial followings, just showcasing their ability to engage and entertain in-person was the deciding factor. It’s a clear sign that, while social media is a good way to gauge influence, sometimes you just need to show up and bring your A game.
Finally, despite the emphasis on personal branding, authenticity was still a key factor. The team was looking for individuals who were true to themselves and could connect with their audience on a genuine level. It’s a refreshing reminder that even in the age of algorithms and filters, genuine human connection is still what matters most.
