Meet Model Carlin Armbrister | Tagged™

Tagged™ is a magazine series that features unique stories in the arts and entertainment fields of Atlanta, GA and surrounding areas. We recently had the privilege of speaking with Carlin Armbrister, a model residing in Atlanta, GA. Here is his story.

What inspired you to pursue your profession in Atlanta?

Being intentional about pursuing my goals as well as passions and hobbies I enjoy prompted me to pursue modeling in Atlanta. Living in Atlanta made it easy to get into this arena. You miss 100% of the chances you don’t take so I wanted to take full advantage of the opportunity before other obligations got in the way.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a professional in Atlanta?

Being a black man alone is a challenge in the professional world. The reality of being critiqued as you aspire to advance in life is all too routine; in modeling its just done upfront. Finding opportunities and gigs for males is another challenge while navigating working with photographers and other professionals who take advantage of your talents and time for their personal gain. Not everyone practices honest business and unfortunately everyone has to go through this to build a portfolio.

If you could change anything about your journey thus far, what would it be?

I believe everything happens for a reason. I could analyze my journey and highlight what would make it much easier, but I wouldn’t be able to learn the lessons needed to better myself. Overall, I would push myself further to take chances on myself. This is what got me this far.

What advice would you give to aspiring professionals like you in Atlanta?

“If you’re gonna do anything in life do it properly or don’t do it at all. Your efforts go a long way.”

What are your favorite local spots to find inspiration for what you do?

Local fashion shows and modeling classes.
